Meet with advocates from across Georgia who share the same experiences, challenges, and stress. Learn more about practicing self-care and how to manage the stress of helping surviviors of sexual assault.

Book Club - Know My Name by Chanel Miller
GNESA is hosting a book club. We will have the first meeting on May 30, 2025 at 3:00 pm. Please have the book at the time, but you don't have to have started reading on that date.
Writer, artist, and activist Chanel Miller shook the world when her victim impact statement regarding the Brock Turner sentencing for her sexual assault went viral. This book tells her story of sexual assault and her experiences as she goes through the system in an effort to get justice.
This book deals with the impact of sexual assault so please be aware it could be a trigger for other survivors.

4 Day Sexual Assault Advocacy Training - Virtual
This FOUR day training will provide new sexual assault advocates and other participants with knowledge, skills, and abilities to address: what is sexual assault advocacy, realities of sexual assault, impact of sexual assault, procedures in common advocacy situations, recovery education and skills training, and compassion fatigue/self-care.

Human Trafficking Training
This training will cover basic information on human trafficking, how to best work with victims of trafficking, current special projects from around Georgia, and resources to help you provide more comprehensive advocacy services.

Multidisciplinary Teams - Response to Sexual Assault - ADVOCATES
Sexual Assault Response Teams are multidisciplinary teams that provide specialized immediate response to victims of recent sexual assault by implementing a comprehensive, sensitive, coordinated system of intervention and care for sexual assault victims. The team typically includes victim advocates, health care personnels, law enforcement representatives, and prosecutors. This training will include classroom discussion on advanced advocacy topics and participation as an advocate in mock forensic medical exams and mock law enforcement interviews.

There is no cost to participate in the training but accommodations will NOT be covered.
Each participant must cover the cost of hotel accommodation or mileage.
There are 15 slots available for advocates who wish to participate.

Answering the Crisis Hotline - Virtual
Participants will learn important skills such as building rapport, utilizing healthy communication, creating a safety plan, assessing needs, providing education, mobilizing support and discussing resources.
The training will include opportunities for roll playing mock crisis calls.
