What is GNESA?

GNESA is the state coalition of sexual assault and rape crisis centers in the state of Georgia. GNESA provides a central network, resources, training, and legislative advocacy for the sexual assault service providers in Georgia, to support and enhance their services for survivors of sexual assault. GNESA promotes a collaborative, multi-disciplinary model of service and response called the Sexual Assault Response Team model.

Does GNESA provide services to victims of sexual assault?

GNESA does not provide direct services to victims of sexual assault. GNESA can provide information and referrals to the nearest rape crisis center that can provide immediate help and crisis intervention.

Can I be a GNESA member?

Yes! GNESA is a membership organization of sexual assault and rape crisis centers, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners, other sexual assault response agencies, and supporting organizations and concerned individuals. GNESA members share a commitment to ending sexual violence in our community. We need your support and involvement to address the problem of sexual assault in Georgia and realize our vision of a society free from sexual violence.

Is sexual assault a problem in my area?

Sexual assault is a pervasive problem and anyone can be a target of rape. Studies show that victims include infants to persons in their 90's, people of color, lesbians/gays, persons with disabilities, and persons of every racial, ethnic, religious, economic, and social background.
